Event: Miami Swim Week "The Shows" - 6/2/24

The SLS Hotel in Miami, Fl was rocking on a Sunday evening as the final day of Miami Swim Week "The Shows" was underway. Among the talented fashion designers to present their latest collection was Kelly Meacham of the brand Slay Swimwear. Seventeen beautiful models slayed the runway wearing outfits from this brand wearing one and two piece swimsuits. Kelly never names her collections. She creates whatever comes to mind or makes her happy. She stated: "For my 2024 collection, I wanted to incorporate more color and design swimsuits that were a bit more practical compared to last year’s Rio-themed collection. This year's collection embraces a fun, colorful summer vibe while maintaining a luxurious look. It's all about combining practicality with vibrant, high-fashion aesthetics".

Kelly is Caucasian and originally from Indiana. Growing up, she always aspired to create something bigger and extraordinary, as she never had that experience in her small-town life when growing up. She is currently based in Los Angeles, where she established her brand and even has a store located at 7612 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA. This move to LA has allowed her to pursue her dreams and bring her vision to life.

Kelly has been a fashion designer for three years now. During this time, she focused on creating unique, high-quality swimwear that blends vibrant colors with luxurious details. Her journey began with a passion for design and a desire to bring something new to the fashion world. She also stated, "These three years have been a transformative experience, allowing me to grow my brand and connect with fashion enthusiasts worldwide. My collection is distinguished by its striking colors and the finest beads and chain details, creating an exquisite haute couture look that stands out in any setting. Each piece is meticulously crafted to ensure both style and quality, appealing to fashion-forward shoppers. President Niki Walking for Slay Swimwear during Miami Swim Week "The Shows".

President Niki was one of the models who slayed the catwalk wearing a black one piece bikini with silver diamond hardware. It fit her curves amazingly as she also wore a robe coverup that said the most true statement ever “ I’m fucking sexy” in silver rhinestones. Niki is a Ukrainian model living in south Florida and Miami who has been modeling for 5 years which is wild because she's only 22 years old.

She was inspired to get into fashion because she didn't see anyone that looked like her showcasing trendy fashion. She stated: "I’ve never seen, at that time, curvy women in any sort of advertisements unless they were for weight loss, constantly being told we need to change ourselves to be worthy of fitting in. I decided to take things into my own hands and create online videos such as TikTok’s and Instagram posts showcasing my favorite outfits and brands. I got inspired to get into fashion because I didn’t see anyone that looked like me showcasing trendy fashion. I’ve never seen, at that time, curvy women in any sort of advertisements unless they were for weight loss, constantly being told we need to change ourselves to be worthy of fitting in. I decided to take things into my own hands and create online videos such as TikTok’s and Instagram posts showcasing my favorite outfits and brands. Kelly was super nice and actually was one of the first designers to pick me in the fittings round. I was actually surprised they had something that fit me because traditionally the unique fun and trendy designers do not include plus size. She also had a great finale outfit that I absolutely need to steal.

Walking for Miami Swim the shows allowed me to get great content with photos and videos along with connecting with brands that I could model for in the future. I’m working on getting signed into a new agency so hopefully I will inspire someone to sign me. I hope to continue modeling with more paid opportunities and larger brands. I would love to walk for Cupshe or Sports Illustrated!"
